The Arc
Intro
01
The Arc was created nearly 75 years ago because at that time, parents were often told it would be best to send their child with an intellectual or developmental disability away from the family and put them in an institution for life. Thankfully, a pioneering group of parents knew their children were capable of and deserved more. Today, The Arc is a leading community-based organization that serves people with disabilities like autism and Down syndrome, meeting the needs of families across the arc of their lifetime.
Nationally, The Arc is focused on getting people with disabilities and their families the support they need to thrive, changing systems that limit their rights and quality of life, and creating a society that’s more accepting and inclusive.
